What does “FTP Error 550 - No such file or directory” or Access Denied mean?

Answer: If you are getting this error then you need to define your FTP Initial Directory. If you already have something set in this field then it needs to be changed because the publishing wizard cannot find your folder(s).

(Note: Some FTP servers return this error as 550 - Permission Denied)

Here is how to fix this problem.

  • Start RealCart™.
  • Click the “Finish” button on the toolbar.
  • Answer “No” if asked if you want to rebuild all pages.
  • Click the “Advanced...” button.
  • Enter the correct folder into the “Initial Directory” field.
  • Click “OK.”
  • Click “Yes.”
  • Click “Close” if you do not wish to publish at this time or “Next >” if you do.

If the correct directory was specified in the Initial Directory field then the publishing wizard will simply upload the files without any more “550 Errors.”

If you continue to receive this error and you do not know what your Initial Directory is there are a couple of things you can try. Please go here to see what they are.
