What does “The CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers” mean?

Answer: If you see the following error:

CGI Error

The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

Received: (49 bytes) 550 not local host conputerz.com, not a gateway

carbonCopy=Y
mailFrom=Conputerz@excite.com
subj=Conputerz On-Line Order Receipt
mailto=Sales@Conputerz.com
mailHostmail@Conputerz.com
nextpage=http://www.conputerz.com/ cart/thanks.html

The most common reason for getting this error is an incorrect value entered in the mailhost field in the checkout wizard. Double check with your web hosting ISP (NOT your dialup ISP, in case they are not the same company) and see what SMTP host would be legal to use to forward email from a form on your web site to your inbox.

You will notice that the second line from the bottom that starts with mailHost contains the value: email@Conputerz.com. This is not a mail server, this is an email address. Your email server for your domain *should* be your domain with “mail.” at the beginning. e.g. mail.conputerz.com. Sometimes it’s your web hosting ISPs own mail server, e.g. SMTP.yourwebhost.net. The easiest way to determine which mail server to use is to ask your web hosting ISP.

If you receive an error message that contains “Relaying Denied” or “Access Denied - Relaying Not Allowed” or any message mentioning relaying take a look at this FAQ.

Another common reason for getting this error is by having a mal-formed email address defined as the Cart Order Email contact in the store wizard. (This is Contact #4)

In some cases it will not be possible to use RSCMail.exe the FREE form mailer we include with this program due to limitations of your web hosting plan or general policies of your web hosting ISP. Most competent web hosting ISPs can accommodate these reasonable requests for email functionality on your web site.
